Ductless, mini split-system air-conditioners (mini splits) have numerous potential applications in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. Ductless mini splits are highly recommended on bonus rooms above garages, computers rooms, additions to a home or office, and other unique set ups where duct will be difficult to install.

Like central systems, mini splits have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units. The advantages of mini splits are that they are small and are easier to install than a ducted split system.
